Nature and its seasons can be a beautiful representation of the cycles of life and even though the seasons are different from place to place we can use these natural cycles to deepen our personal development. Every season has its own areas and objectives that can help support us to use time effectively and gives us a particular focus for a set period throughout the year.
At the beginning of Learn Your Flow’s nature series we explored the benefits of nature from a more practical stance. This month we will look at each season and how the season can help support you through personal growth and development.
Spring
Start of Spring
The start of spring can be considered as an inspirational time of year. It is the beginning of the new astrological year and brings us the spring equinox which is the first day of spring. As spring awakens as do plants and trees creating a beautiful backdrop for new beginnings. The beginning of spring is the time to reawaken and explore what we want to create and bring forward into our lives. It also gives us the opportunity to start over.
Mid Spring
As time passes, we come into mid spring which is a more active time of the year. It is the time to work hard on your goals, ideas and bring them into fruition. Nature is a perfect representation of this as we are surrounded by flowers. You will find that as nature is lush and fertile your energy will reflect this change within the season.
End of Spring
At the end of spring, it is now clear what is growing both in our lives and in nature. Buds and shoots have developed and by this time so might your ideas, dreams and goals. It is important to take a moment at the end of spring to really think about your potential and who you want to be during the summer months as that will be the season of joy and abundance. If changes need to be made now is the time to make them.
Summer
Start of summer
The start of summer brings us the summer solstice. This is when natural world around us is at its peak. As nature is filled with energy and life it is a prime time for manifestation. There is a sense of joy and opportunities as nature shows us that anything is possible. Now is the time to say yes to these opportunities and watch them grow.
Mid-summer
In nature mid-summer is a pivotal point as it is the time when we can bring in the first harvest of the year. As a result of this it is a good time to appreciate all that spring and summer have brought you. It is a time to celebrate as nature is overflowing with an abundance of fruit and flowers. It is also the time to live life to the full as you celebrate your success.
End of summer
At the end of summer, it is important to make the last push to bring in as much fruit as you can. This is the time when days begin to shorten and to prepare for the change of season. During the end of summer seeds are dropping ready for the following spring. It is a good time to think about the future ahead. You may find that the end of summer brings you some contrasting energy as you bring in the last of your harvest but then begin to settle down and get back to normal life. This time of year, may feel untidy as things may have been dropped over the height of summer but you will have time to put things back in order soon.
Autumn
Beginning of autumn
The beginning of autumn brings us the autumn equinox. As the leaves start to change colour and fall now is the time to start reflecting on what has happened during the rest of the year and reflect on things that no longer serve you. You will start to feel a shift in energy which means that it is the time to start thinking about resting and reflecting.
Mid-Autumn
Mid-Autumn is associated with the death and rebirth cycle. As nature starts to die back and conserve its energy for next spring it is important to finalise the work you did at the beginning of this season by letting go of what no longer serves you. During this season the nights too are getting longer brining a sense of darkness. But this darkness is not to be feared as it gives you the opportunity to recognise the rebirth part of the cycle. This is the time to focus inwards and rest as nature hibernates.
End of Autumn
End of autumn is a contrasting time of year. In nature things have already died back and begun to hibernate, whereas this is a time of year is when us humans are busy with lots of festivities in the run up to Christmas. During this time, it is important to look for balance between resting and being busy so that you do not end up frazzled by the end of the year.
Winter
Beginning of Winter
The start of winter brings us the winter solace. Like nature it is important that you gather all of your energy and resources so that you can prepare for the new year. Rather than pushing ourselves to continue in January we should mirror the energy of nature by focussing inwards. By looking inwards, you are practicing self-care, self-reflection and self-awareness which are all important for personal growth. During this time, it brings us the shortest day and longest night which is the beginning of lighter days. This shows us that dark times do not last forever which is important when doing inner work.
Mid-Winter
Mid-Winter is a time of creation and patience. Nature is a beautiful representation of this. As winter continues now is when the seeds that were once dropped begin to think about germinating. However, it is important for those plants not to rush as they could be caught out by bad weather. This is the same for us, if we have come up with ideas, dreams, or creations during our hibernation period it is wise not to go steaming ahead and take our time to get it right.
End of Winter
The end of winter is a sign that spring is coming. Now is the time to stay connected to your inner being so that you can bring you dreams and aspirations into fruition. It is a time to process the ‘how’, now that you have considered the ‘what’ ready for the faster pace of spring. Even though the message of not rushing is important during mid-winter it is also important that it remains now. Focus on the planning so that you are ready for the doing to bring success.
Now we have explored all the seasons you can look at your goals and see if they are aligned with the natural calendar. You will find that when you work along side the seasons you are working with your natural energy so you will find that the process of creating goals and putting them into action a lot more successful.
