As time has passed, we have become familiar with artificial lights whether it be inside or just our normal streetlights that are prone to shutting out the beauty of nature. There was a time however, where we were more in tune with natures cycles. This includes the seasons but also cycles further afield. The moon’s cycles have definitely been affected by the use of electricity. But now it is time to learn and reverse this separation not just to be closer to nature but also because within these cycles there is an incredible power that we can harness. By harnessing these powers, we can live more in tune with our values and manifest our goals and aspirations. So this month we will be exploring the magic of the lunar cycle.

The lunar cycle refers to the time it takes for the moon to orbit the earth. The moon appears in different shapes during this cycle because of how light from the sun is reflected off the moon. This cycle lasts 29.5 days and there are 8 phases within this time period. These phases are known as the New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full moon, Wanning Gibbous, Third Quarter, Waning Crescent. As the energy builds throughout the lunar cycle you can use this energy to help bring goals into fruition.

The Moon Phases

New Moon – This is the first phase of the lunar cycle. It is the time to look inward and ask yourself what is it that you truly desire and what would you like to bring forward during the upcoming luna cycle. What you wish to bring forward could be an aspiration, a creation, wanting to overcome something, a release, or even just feeling an emotion. You can work with this phase to help build new habits and routines.

Waxing Cresent – As the moon moves into this phase the energy is just starting to build which can represents you taking the first steps to bringing your goal forward which you created during the new moon. These steps could be in the form of planning and researching.

First Quarter – This phase happens a week after the new moon and a week before the full moon. This is when you would begin the tasks that you have started to plan and make them happen. This could be applying for jobs, learning a new skill, beginning your creation, or going to a workshop. Whatever it maybe it is time to start taking action.

Waxing Gibbous – During this phase you should feel the energy within you growing. As the full moon gets closer, The energy should help you by giving you a little push to take your actions one step further if it is possible.

Full Moon – This is the time for celebration and reflection. The energy at this time is at its highest so be mindful of emotions, of others, and yourself. But you can use this time to take a step back and see how far you have come. Whether it be a creation or just overcoming a something you found difficult. It is all good stuff that should be recognised and celebrated.

Wanning Gibous – You might feel relived at this phase of the luna cycle as the energy begins to ease and you can begin to slow down. It is the time to start tying up loose ends and overcoming any obstacles that may have arisen in the previous phases.

Third Quarter – As the lunar cycle is coming closer to the new moon this is the time to start letting go of your previous targets. Reviewing how these goals have gone for you so that you can make space and improvements for the next cycle. This is also a good time to think about decluttering both your mind and space by letting go of anything that no longer serves you.

Wanning Crescent – This phase is the last 72 hours before the next new moon. It is when the energy is at its lowest, so this is the time to focus inwards, and make time for some much-needed self-care. Keep things simple and low key at this time as the energy rising is just around the corner.

Now that you have a basic understanding of the luna cycle you can combine this knowledge with our previous life coaching posts to help enhance the plans and targets you have made during this process. If you would like more information on natural cycles, we will be covering nature and her seasons within the next series. We hope that you have enjoyed the connection of the natural cycles and the relation of how to incorporate this beautiful cycle into the life coaching process.
